Cellulose Insulation Facts:
Fire Resistant, Thermal Resistant,
Sound Absorbant.
Hurdle over confusing and conflicting claims and choose the right insulation for your new or existing home. Know the facts before you begin an insulation project to insure that your family stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer - while you save money!
MYTH: Fiberglass is a better insulator than cellulose. REALITY: Studies show cellulose insulated structures use 26% less energy! MYTH: Cellulose settles and doesn't insulate as well over time.
REALITY: When properly installed by trained contractors, settling is eliminated. The spaces in your walls are filled completely and fully, leaving no room for settling, and no loss of r-value or insulating.
MYTH: Cellulose is just recycled paper. REALITY: Cellulose insulation is made from recycled news print and other wood fibers. It is shredded and treated with a fire retardant and a fungicide. It is safe, clean and non-alergenic.
The bottom line: Cellulose Insulates Better.
All residential structures contain large amounts of wood. Cellulose insulation is the only wood-based building material that is always treated for fire retardancy. This makes cellulose insulation one of the safest materials used in home construction. Several fire demonstrations have been conducted in which cellulose insulated structures have remained virtually intact while uninsulated and fiber glass insulated structures burned to the ground. MYTH: The chemical added to cellulose insulation will corrode wire and plumbing. REALITY: When in contact with steel, copper, aluminum or galvanized materials, cellulose insulation is determined to be non-corrosive per ASTM C-739. |
